Pet Transport-2

When it comes to safely transporting your pets into and out of the UAE, here’s what you need to know…

Relocating your pet can be a time of anxiety and uncertainty and the paperwork and regulations can be overwhelming. And then, of course, there is the concern for our four-legged family’s safety and wellbeing.

Each country has different requirements and regulations, which are constantly being updated, but generally the airline and the specific breed of your animal will determine how to safely transport your animal.

The first thing to ensure is that our furry friends have a correctly sized travel crate, which provides ventilation and enough room to be comfortable. There is a specific formula to work this out, which most vets will be able to advise you on. The German Veterinary Clinic in Khalifa City A even have a Transport Team who are able to provide a bespoke service for you and your pets, whether you require documents only or a full door to door service.

Aside from the travel crates, you need to purchase appropriate mats, blankets, absorbent pads, and water bowls, as well as an array of species-specific products that will help to make your pet’s journey as comfortable as possible.

Depending on the species of your pet and where they are travelling to, it is very likely that they will need specific vaccinations, blood tests, and microchipping (if they aren’t already). These procedures, combined with preparing the correct documentation, naturally takes time, and so it is advisable to begin the process as soon as possible. For some destinations, the process has to be started no more than 7 months prior to your anticipated travel date, so again it is important to check before arranging travel.

If you need any assistance regarding pet transport, we advise that you speak to the German Veterinary Clinic in Khalifa City A, who offer a “One Stop Shop” service for all of your pet transport needs.
