Former Barcelona stalwart primed to set local league alight

Football fans in the UAE are rejoicing this week as news broke that one of the all-time greats will be joining Ras Al Khaimah side Emirates Club FC.

Spanish legend Andreas Iniesta, who starred for Barcelona for over 15 years, has signed a one-year deal with the northern UAE club in a move which is bound to cause a stir among football fans in the region.

The Saudi Arabian league has grabbed all the headlines recently with their pursuit of many football stars with Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane joining the Arab football world in recent times.

Thirty-nine-year old Iniesta, who was instrumental in Spain winning the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and Barcelona lifting four Champions League titles, represents a major coup for the UAE Pro League.

You can gain a glimpse of this majestic player when himself and his team-mates begin their campaign at the end of August!
