Dubai have once again shown that they are leading the fight against climate change when it was revealed this week that an Emirates flight operating with sustainable fuel departed for Sydney on 24 October last.

The airline only released this information on Monday and were happy to announce this latest development, highlighting Emirates’ unwavering commitment to reducing their carbon footprint on flight throughout the world.

The fuel is being supplied by Shell Aviation who provided over 300,000 gallons of blended SAD for use at the airport headquarters in Dubai which has been used in a number of operational missions in the last month.

Although authorities are happy with the progress being made regarding this issue, they know they have a long road ahead in the fight against climate change. They hope to mininimise their carbon footprint dramatically in the near future.

It is thought that SAF reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to normal jet fuel. Emirates also operated the region’s first 100 percent SAF-powered demonstration flight in January.
