School’s community project brings pupils and workers together, delivering over 1,000 treat bags
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, students from Swiss International School Dubai (SISD) recently visited a local construction site to donate ‘treat bags’ to the workers, as part of the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering global citizenship.
The ‘Fruitful Community Initiative’, spearheaded by school parent Julia Fernandez in collaboration with the Engineering Contracting Company and governmental authorities, aims to empower students to actively engage with their surrounding community through volunteering and acts of kindness.
Over 1,000 treat bags, packed with more than 10,000 food items including fruits, chocolates, and biscuits, were distributed to the workers.
The bags were decorated by younger students with messages and pictures of appreciation for the builders of Dubai.

Alison Roberts, Head of Marketing and Admissions at SISD, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This was a very heartwarming and impactful initiative for our students to be part of. It gives our students the opportunity to contribute significantly to building a compassionate and socially conscious generation.”
The initiative not only provided an opportunity for students to engage with the local community but also allowed them to learn about the construction projects from civil engineers, fostering a deeper understanding of their surroundings.
As the school continues to support such initiatives, the Fruitful Community Initiative is expected to grow, further enriching the lives of both students and the wider community.
