Discover Salik’s updated toll gate pricing, including special Ramadan rates to support fasting and reduce congestion
Dubai’s Salik toll system is set for a significant update, with new pricing rules rolling out by the end of January.
The electronic toll system, currently charging a flat AED 4 per entry, will transition to a dynamic pricing model starting Friday 31 January.
The changes aim to alleviate traffic on Dubai’s busiest roads and will also feature adjustments during Ramadan, which is expected to begin on Sunday 30 March or Monday 31 March.
Dynamic pricing adjustments for Ramadan
In a recent announcement on 17 January, Salik confirmed that Ramadan-specific toll rates and timings will cater to those observing the holy month.
Drivers travelling during early morning hours for Suhoor and Fajr prayers between 2am and 7am will not be charged, providing added convenience for fasting residents.
This is a slight shift from the general toll structure, which waives fees between 1am and 6am.

During Ramadan mornings, toll charges will be reduced to AED 4 from 7am to 9am, compared to AED 6 during other months.
However, peak hours between 9am and 5pm will maintain an AED 6 fee, ensuring smoother traffic flow during the busiest periods of the day.
Evening reductions and Sundays simplified
Evening tolls during Ramadan will see a longer reduced-fee window, with drivers charged AED 4 from 5pm to 2am.
This adjustment helps residents commute for Iftar and evening gatherings with ease.
Sundays will feature a unique structure, with toll fees capped at AED 4 from 7am to 2am, and no charges between 2am and 7am.

Year-round dynamic pricing
Outside of Ramadan, Salik’s revised toll structure introduces two daily peak periods:

During non-peak hours, toll charges will drop to AED 4, offering consistent pricing for drivers during quieter periods.
