Swiss International School Dubai launches regional-first BTEC in Sport, Business, and Management

Sisd Introduces New Btec Pathway For Sport And Business Students

First in the region: SISD introduces new BTEC pathway

Swiss International School Dubai (SISD) is set to introduce a new academic pathway for students passionate about sport and business with the launch of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, Business, and Management.

Starting in the 2025/26 academic year, this programme will be offered as part of the school’s IB Career-related Programme (IBCP), providing an alternative to traditional A Levels and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).

This course will be available to Grade 11 and 12 students and is currently undergoing the accreditation process.

The diploma, equivalent to three A Levels, is designed for students who prefer a career-focused and practical approach to learning.

It combines business management principles with an in-depth exploration of the sports industry, preparing students for higher education or direct entry into the workforce.

The curriculum covers a diverse range of subjects, including sports journalism, sports marketing, health and wellbeing, sports psychology, and performance analysis, equipping students with both technical knowledge and essential skills such as critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork.

SISD is introducing this BTEC pathway as a new option in the region.

The programme will be delivered alongside the school’s existing sports facilities, which include a FIFA-standard football pitch, multiple basketball and tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a gymnasium.

These facilities and structured coaching aim to support students’ academic and athletic development.

Alysha Clements, Head of Secondary PHE and Sport at SISD, described the programme as “an exciting opportunity for students to pursue their passion for sport while gaining the business skills needed to excel in a rapidly growing industry.”

Lisa Bardin, IBCP Coordinator, emphasised the diploma’s value in bridging academic study with real-world applications, providing students with a dynamic and practical education.

Applications for the 2025/26 academic year are now open, with the programme’s launch pending final accreditation.
