The Super Block initiative is aligned with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan
Dubai has big plans to make the city even more pedestrian-friendly! The Executive Council has just given the green light to a new initiative called the ‘Super Block’ project.
The goal? To transform parts of the city into car-free zones, making them more pleasant for walking, socializing and relaxing.
This move is all part of Dubai’s vision to become a top global city for residents and visitors alike.
The idea is to create areas where people can stroll, cycle, and hang out without worrying about traffic.
And it’s not just about removing cars; this project will also add more green spaces and public areas for everyone to enjoy.
The Super Block initiative is aligned with Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan and has some pretty ambitious goals, like reducing carbon emissions and improving overall quality of life.

The first areas to see these changes will include Al Fahidi, Abu Hail, Al Karama, and Al Quoz Creative Zone.
To make everything run smoothly, the city will also push forward a ‘Unified Digital Platform’ that will make all government services easier to access.
This includes apps like Dubai Now for everyday tasks, Invest in Dubai for business needs, and Visit Dubai for tourism info. And by 2027, Dubai plans to have all government services fully digitalised!
Dubai is certainly keeping up with global trends, aiming for a future that blends community, sustainability, and innovation in a way that benefits everyone.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s clear: Dubai is walking into the future; one car-free block at a time.
