Flydubai resumes daily direct flights to Damascus from 1 June, after a 12-year pause
Flydubai will restart direct flights from Dubai to Damascus starting 1 June, becoming the first UAE carrier to resume operations to Syria after a 12-year suspension.
The daily service will depart from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 and land at Damascus International Airport, reconnecting two historically linked cities.
The decision comes after the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority approved the resumption of air travel between the countries earlier this year.

“We are very pleased to be the first national airline to operate direct flights to Syria again,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai. “Damascus is rich in history and culture, and this new route underlines our commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.”
Damascus was among the earliest destinations for Flydubai when it launched in 2009. The resumption is strategically timed ahead of Eid Al Adha and the peak summer travel season, when demand for regional flights spikes.
Flydubai now serves over 130 destinations across 56 countries with a growing fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft. The reintroduction of Damascus to its network reinforces the airline’s broader strategy to bridge underserved regional routes.
