The city’s newest addition to its glittering skyline is a metro station soaring 74 metres above the ground
Hold on to your metro cards; Dubai’s going sky-high, literally!
The city’s newest addition to its glittering skyline isn’t another skyscraper; it’s a metro station soaring 74 metres above the ground.
Say hello to the Emaar Properties Station, soon to be the highest metro station in the world!
Yes, you read that right. Dubai’s Blue Line is on track (pun intended) to become a global landmark, with this jaw-dropping station that’s more than just a place to catch your train.
Gateway to the future

The station is designed by none other than architectural rockstars Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM); the same folks behind the Burj Khalifa, Olympic Tower (NYC), and Sears Tower (Chicago). So yes, your metro ride is about to get a serious style upgrade.
Inspired by the idea of a “crossing gateway”, the station perfectly blends modern design with Dubai’s futuristic vision. It’ll span around 11,000 square metres and welcome up to 160,000 passengers per day, though projections suggest a breezy 70,000 daily riders by 2040.
Metro, but make it mega

Emaar has locked in naming rights for a cool 10 years, and you can expect this station to become a centerpiece in the city’s ever-evolving urban puzzle.
It’s not just about looks either; the Blue Line is serious about solving traffic jams and moving Dubai’s rapidly growing population with ease.

Stations in Blue Line: 14 new additions
Total stations after Blue Line: 78
Trains in service after Blue Line: 168 (157 metro + 11 tram)
Expected metro passengers by 2026: Over 300 million
By 2031: 320 million metro riders annually!
From modest start to mega network

Dubai Metro launched back in 2009 with just 10 stations and 16 trains. Fast forward to 2025, and we’ve got a sprawling 131 km network, 78 stations, and a whopping 168 trains zipping across the city.
It’s a journey that’s seen ridership grow from 38 million in 2010 to a record-breaking 275.4 million in 2024.
Besides making metro rides feel like boarding a spaceship, the new station marks a bold leap toward making Dubai one of the smartest, most efficient cities in the world. It’s all about accessibility, sustainability, and skyline-defining design.
So next time someone says, “Meet me at the metro,” make sure to ask: Which level?
