Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has just greenlit a massive transformation of Al Mustaqbal Street, and it’s a game-changer for the city’s inner flow.
The budget? A whopping AED 633 million.
The Goal? Cut travel time by more than 50 PER CENT.
The Result? More lanes, less pain.
What’s changing?
Stretching from Za’abeel Palace Street to Financial Centre Street, this key connector is getting the red-carpet treatment; bridges, tunnels, wider lanes, and brand-new urban perks are all part of the plan.
The road will expand from 3 lanes to 4, increasing vehicle capacity by a cool 33 per cent per hour. Your daily journey? Going from 13 minutes down to just 6. (Yes, really.)
Tunnel vision ahead
The makeover includes three new tunnels designed to keep traffic flowing smoother than your morning coffee:
A three-lane tunnel heading toward Deira; capacity: 4,500 vehicles per hour
A two-lane tunnel for left-turners onto Trade Centre Street
A dedicated single-lane tunnel for the One Central development

And there’s more: a 450-metre, two-lane bridge will zip traffic from Dubai World Trade Centre toward Za’abeel Palace Street and Al Mustaqbal Street; taking drivers above the chaos and straight into cruising mode.
Walk this way (and cycle too!)
It’s not all about cars; new pedestrian walkways, a cycling track, and urban chill zones are on the blueprint, making Al Mustaqbal a street for everyone, not just four wheels.
This project isn’t just a road revamp; it’s a connectivity upgrade for some of Dubai’s biggest hotspots.
From Dubai World Trade Centre to DIFC, Downtown, and Business Bay, this street is set to become the express route to everywhere you want to be.
With construction already underway, half a million residents, commuters, and visitors stand to benefit once the works are complete.
So if you’re tired of the bumper-to-bumper blues, hold tight; because very soon, your ride down Al Mustaqbal Street is about to feel a whole lot more like the fast lane to the future.
