The new system doesn’t slam the door shut on anyone. Instead, it acts as a firm but friendly nudge, reminding residents to settle their fines before they can complete visa formalities.

Thousands of cases were reviewed before launching this pilot, ensuring the system is user-friendly. When residents visit visa service centres, staff will guide them through their payment options, including instalment plans to make life a little easier.

Don’t worry if you’re flying through Dubai Airport; the pilot isn’t in effect at the airport’s GDRFA centre just yet. For now, this is a trial run aimed at helping the community stay safe and law-abiding.
