Dubai announces key road closures for New Year’s Eve 2026

Plan ahead as major routes close and public transport extends service for city-wide celebrations

 

Dubai is gearing up for its spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations, and city authorities are urging residents and visitors to plan ahead due to extensive road closures.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, several major routes in Downtown Dubai and other celebration zones will be closed in phases from the afternoon of Wednesday, 31 December.

 

Key closures from 4pm

Al Asayel Street

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard

Burj Khalifa Street

Lower Financial Centre Street

Al Mustaqbal Street (between Financial Centre intersection and Commercial Centre Street)

 

Additional closures later in the evening

8pm: Al Sukook Street

9pm: Upper Financial Centre Street

11pm: Sheikh Zayed Road (Al Maidaan to Commercial Centre roundabout)

 

Dubai Metro and Tram services are extending hours for convenience. The Metro will operate continuously from 5am on 31 December to 11.59pm 1 January, while Tram services run from 6am on 31 December until 1am on 2 January.

Authorities are encouraging the public to use public transport where possible and avoid driving near high-traffic celebration areas.
