Teens over 15 can now work in the UAE

Law change to provide young people with work experience.

Does your teenager fancy earning some money?

Well children aged 15 and over can obtain a part-time job in the UAE now.

Authorities said the move was to boost the country’s development while enabling young people to gain work experience and earn some money while continuing their studies.

Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, said the relaxation of the law would ensure students have access to the jobs’ market and see the sectors they want to study and want to have a future in.

The change is just one of the new reforms introduced as part of the Year of the 50th.

Other major changes include a new green visa to allow parents to sponsor their children until they are 25, sponsorship of parents under the visa of direct family members and extension of grace period after redundancy to 180 days.
