Fans to attend Indian Premier League matches

Tickets are available on 16 September.

Cricket fans, stop what you’re doing and listen up because we have news that will knock you for six.

The opening round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on 19 September will be rocking to the sound of fans as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed today (15 September) that spectators will be allowed to attend matches.

Fans can get their mitts on tickets from September 16 on iplt20.com and PlatinumList.net, however, capacity will be limited due to COVID-19 protocols.

The first ball will be bowled when current champions Mumbai Indian take on Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

In total there will be 31 matches played over 27 days with seven double headers scheduled – that’s a potential of 80 overs of exciting cricket in one day.

Matches are pencilled in to take place in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah with the final taking place on 15 October.

The tournament is being held in the UAE after the BCCI decided not to complete the tournament in India due to the monsoon season during the months of September and October this year, having previously been postponed in May due to COVID-19.
