Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week to begin this Friday

More than 20 international collectors will attend.

Stamps, stickers, fridge magnets, we all love to maintain and add to a collection and those who enjoy a good hoarding, will be able to indulge themselves at the inaugural Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week.

The ten day festival celebrates collections and collectors in the retail, design, entertainment and culinary worlds and will see more 20 international collectors, designers and entertainers descend on the city.

Running from 7 to 16 October, the festival anchored by Semi Permanent will offer the opportunity to collectors to showcase their pride and joy as well as present the chance to novice gatherers to begin their own projects.

Under the stewardship of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the festival will also see the Collectors’ Prom which will feature exhibitions including NFTs, a sneakers collective and a cars emporium.

His Excellency Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi said the Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week raises the emirate’s profile at home and abroad as a top destination for design and creative industries.

HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba said: “Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week is designed to create a true celebration of the world’s creative landscape right here in Abu Dhabi through the curation of new and exciting collectors’ experiences across the retail, creative and culinary sectors.

“We are confident this exciting new addition to Abu Dhabi’s increasingly diverse events calendar will elevate the emirate’s local and international tourism offering, and underline Abu Dhabi’s steering role as an enabling beacon of innovation for the regional design and creative industries.”

An armchair sports lover, he is on a personal mission to attend every sporting event in the UAE to make out for most likely missing the big one in Doha in November.
