Pokémon GO is coming to Abu Dhabi

It all happens next February.

Abu Dhabians, get your Poké balls ready to catch ‘em all as the inaugural Pokémon GO Tour: Live Event is coming to Yas Island.

Hosted by Niantic, the AR company behind Pokémon GO, the ticketed event will see players explore real-world habitats, enjoy special in-game features, photo ops, a special game plan and exclusive merchandise on Yas Bay Waterfront.

Going live on Saturday 26 February 2022, gamers will be able to discover Pokémon all over the southern part of Yas Island including the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island and Etihad Arena.

The event which is the first to be hosted in the region will see other Poké-happenings in  Monterrey, Mexico at Parque Fundidora and Kaohsiung, Taiwan at the Taiwan Lantern Festival.

It’s the latest in good news for gamers in Abu Dhabi after the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), recognised the gaming industry as a priority sector for growth, with AED 30 billion to be invested.

TwoFour54 also launched AD Gaming, a new initiative to aggregate the emirate’s efforts to build a gaming and E-sports gaming community.
