Tell us more about Yo Neighbor! How did you come up with the idea?
The concept of Yo Neighbour! is very simple: Rent it from people who have it, and lease it to people who don’t. We wanted to answer a very common problem: I need an item for a short period of time, but I don’t want to buy it. And we wanted to answer it in the easiest way possible, therefore we created Yo Neighbor!, a mobile application that connects people who have things with people who need them. It’s a very user friendly platform that allows you to save money and space, while also making some extra cash from items you are rarely using. You scroll through the items, search by proximity, rating, price, etc.. and rent what you need in a click of a button. Think of a camping trip, or your visitors from abroad who don’t need to ship their kid’s stroller and car seat all the way to the UAE…
We have also very lately introduced the services section that we are very excited about. It covers photographers, hairstylists and makeup artists, tutors, personal trainers…; skilled people can enlist their talent, and get booked through the app directly. No middle man needed!
So how does it work?
Yo Neighbor! enables people to make money from items that they rarely use, or save money (and space!) by borrowing items that they only need for a short period of time. Lenders can enlist their items for free on the app, and interested renters can book them through the app. All you have to do is click on rent, set the date and time that the item is required, and send the request to the lender. Easy in-app messaging allows both parties to arrange a convenient pickup place- Every step is very user-friendly and simple. All payments happen outside of the app, cash in hand, and pick-ups and returns are managed by the users themselves.
