Falconry, fishing, Saluki dog hunting and more.
The Al Marzoom Hunting Reserve in the Al Dhafra region has opened its new season.
Announced by the Abu Dhabi Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee, the season will offer falconers and visitors a chance to enjoy nature in a picturesque environment while engaging in sustainable and traditional practices including falconry, Saluki dog hunting and fishing.
Running until mid-February next year, the season promotes environmental and heritage conservation awareness.
Director of the reserve, Ahmed bin Hiaa Al Mansouri said: “We provide conventional hunting lovers with the perfect hunting experience safely and sustainably, where they can enjoy hunting the Houbara bustards, rabbits and antelopes using falcons and Saluki dogs, accompanied by two professional hunting guides and riding traditional hunting vehicles.
“It is essential that all hunters abide by the rules and conditions put in place to make the hunting experience a success for all while treating the surrounding natural environment and its inhabitants with utmost care and respect.”
Since the reserve opened in 2015, more than 7,200 guests have visited to experience the Bedouin lifestyle and engaged in the various forms of hunting.
Located some 120 kilometres outside the capital, the reserve covers an area of 923 square kilometres.
