Catch this story of young and strong-willed Hayat who has to make a difficult choice between escape and giving herself up to sea creatures.
The screening of Scales, a dystopian story, forms part of CinemaNa’s fourth series of contemporary Arab cinema, presented by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the NYUAD Film and New Media Program,
Hayat is a curse on the village, after her father saved her from a fate of being given to the sea creatures, a tradition whereby each family must give the creatures one of their daughters. In turn the sea creatures are hunted by the men of the village. Her battle is to fight fate and prove her place in the village. But will she win?
