World-famous pianist Lang Lang is playing in Abu Dhabi as part of Abu Dhabi Classics Series.

 

Who is Lang Lang?

Lang Lang has performed with leading orchestras throughout the globe including China, North America and Europe. He was the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic and some top American orchestras. He also performed at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

 

What inspired Lang Lang to play the piano?

The 39-year-old is a master pianist. His love affair with the instrument began after watching an episode of Tom and Jerry episode The Cat Concerto which features Franz Liszt’s ‘Hungarian Rhapsody No.2’. At the age of three he won first place at the Shenyang Piano Competition and also won the Xinghai National Piano Competition in Beijing in 1993 and the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Japan.

 

Has Lang Lang performed in Abu Dhabi before?

Yes, the Chinese superstar has showcased his talents in the capital before leading a masterclass at Emirates Palace Auditorium in 2009 and headlining the Abu Dhabi Festival back in 2016.

He will be serenading audiences with his musical skills at Louvre Abu Dhabi.

 

When is Lang Lang performing at the Louvre Abu Dhabi?

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the concert will take from 8pm on Wednesday 2 March 2022.

 

What classical music can fans expect Lang Lang to be performing?

The musician will be performing variations of Johann Sebastian Bach Golberg’s work, the first time it will be played in the Gulf region.

 

Where can you purchase tickets for Lang Lang?

Tickets for Lang Lang were available on Ticketmaster UAE with admission free for under 18s and for 60 plus senior UAE nationals and residents. However, due to the excitement and demand to see Lang Lang, tickets have all been snapped.

 

Do we need an Al Hosn green pass to attend?

Yes. All attendees will need to present a negative PCR test result on their Al Hosn app not exceeding 96 hours.
