Explore Abu Dhabi’s seafaring past at the Maritime Heritage Festival this March

The festival runs from 18 to 27 March.

Get ready for an ocean of activity as the Maritime Heritage Festival docks at the Abu Dhabi Corniche this March.

Running from 18 to 27 at Al Bahar beach, you can go back in time and explore the world of Abu Dhabi’s seafaring ancestors an intimate seaside setting.

Discover how the people from the city’s history lived in harmony with the sea, building a sustainable and prosperous way of life, and cultivating skills that have passed down through the generations, such as fishing, trading and pearl diving.

 

 

Throughout the festival, you can experience a local coastal village, bustling markets, traditional social gatherings as well as seafaring stories and skills shared by traditional sailors, tradespeople, and craftspeople.

Supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the festival will also provide the opportunity to see how fishing nets are crafted by hand.

A green pass on the Al Hosn app is needed to attend with unvaccinated residents needing to present a negative PCR test result not exceeding 48 hours.
