Gilgamesh is coming to the Cultural Foundation – Abu Dhabi

The show is produced by the Akram Khan Company.

One of life’s great joys in Abu Dhabi is spending an evening at the theatre and for Abu Dhabians, we have some great news.

An Akram Khan Company production, Outwitting the Devil is taking to the stage of the Cultural Foundation – Abu Dhabi on Sunday 18 and Monday 19 November.

Beginning at 8pm, the contemporary dance piece tells the ancient Mesopotamian epic, Gilgamesh, a young man who finds fortune and power but angers the Gods as he destroys the forest and its animals in order to fortify the city of Uruk as a monument to himself.

Losing his friend, Enkidu, Gilgamesh passes into history, to become a fragment among the broken remnants of human culture and memory, confronted with the truth and sorrow of human mortality.

The highly acclaimed production explores ritual and highlights the ever-growing threat to the health of our planet.
