The Art Gallery, The Arts Center and The Institute will all host events in celebration of Ramadan.
A stunning series of activations await this Holy Month as NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) revealed the schedule for the inaugural Ramadaniyyat.
Beginning on 11 April, Ramadaniyyat will see a diverse, week-long series of public events hosted by The Arts Center, The Art Gallery and The Institute.
The Arts Center will host a special edition of its contemporary Arab Cinema, CinemaNa, with a with a screening of Emirati filmmaker Nawaf al Janahi’s feature Before We Forget, along with two musical evenings that sees a global collaboration between Khaleeji jazz ensemble Boom.Diwan x Nduduzo Makhathini x Jean-Michel Pilc and a performance by internationally acclaimed oud and violin virtuoso Simon Shaheen and his band.
For aesthetes, the Art Gallery will present tours and events of the current exhibition Parthenogenesis: Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, Hesam Rahmanian.
And in The Institute, you will be able to enjoy a talk on al-Mutannabi, one of the most celebrated Arab poets with Chairman of Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center His Excellency Ali Bin Tamim and Sheikh Zayed Professor for Arabic and Islamic Studies at the American University of Beirut and Senior Research Fellow at the Library of Arabic Literature at NYUAD, Bilal Orfali.

And for those looking to just relax and get ready for the day ahead, the East Plaza will be hosting a Suhoor meal for the NYUAD community and general public to enjoy throughout the week.
Speaking on Ramadaniyyat Vice Provost for Cultural and Research Engagement at NYUAD Nadia El Cheikh said; “Similar to all of our programming, these events are open to the wider public so they can experience the Holy Month with the NYUAD community, as we celebrate our communal spaces and our shared values at this special time.
“Ramadaniyyat is also the ideal opportunity for the three public-facing institutions to invite our shared community to feel a sense of home.”
