UAE 50th National Day documentary a global hit

The documentary chronicles the first 50 years of the UAE.

Have you seen 1971, the documentary which tells the story of the first 50 years of the UAE?

If the answer is yes, then you are one of some 57.9 million around the planet who has watched the 13-minute film produced by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) to mark UAE’s 50th National Day.

According to a survey by a specialised consultancy company, the documentary recorded some 21.5 million views on international television channels since its release in December and reached more than 36 million people on social media.

 

 

Dubbed into eight languages; English, French, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian; the documentary chronicles the foundations laid by the Founding Father, His Highness, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the pioneering achievements across many sectors of life in the country.

Director- General of WAM, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, said: “We are keen on playing our role as the UAE’s national news agency in highlighting this journey, and the country’s futuristic vision, which drives our efforts to expand our cooperation with international media outlets, to further enhance the UAE’s stature in all fields.”
