MAKERSPACE AL ZEINA

There are no less than five camps that children aged eight to 14 years old can delve into at Makerspace Al Zeina. On 6 and 7 July is the Junior Jewellers where children to learn casting, stamping, cutting, and working with jewellery tools to make their own unique pieces to take home. The DIY Makers’ Camp // Wildlife in UAE, a four-day camp commencing 18 July, will see kids using arts and crafts to create fun, engaging and inspired pieces based on the theme wildlife within the UAE, and a four-day camp entitled DIY Makers’ Camp // My City, Abu Dhabi, beginning 1 August, will see children learn how to fabricate and build at Makerspace learning basic woodshop skills to create a mechanical CAM toy, how to wire LEDs and use the laser cutter in ‘hands on’ workshops. The two-day Fabric + Threads camp on 10 and 11 August includes textile design in these tactile camps. Learn to use the laser cutter to make a frame to weave some weather themed hanging decorations. Day two is all about macramé to create cute animal designs. And the fifth camp, DIY Makers’ Camp // The Future, which rolls out on 15 August, looks to the future in this electronic and STEAM lead four-day camp. Kids get to add some excitement  with an electric candlelight, use the sun to power a car, and make sure their plants stay watered through the summer months with an automated watering system.
