The Red Theater at The Arts Centre at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) will be lit up this June as the cult classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors, takes to the stage.
Brought to the capital by the city’s longest standing community musical theatre group, the Abu Dhabi Choral Group (ADCG), the play is based on a 1960 film by Roger Corman.
With a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, the award-winning musical will fuse Motown, doo-wop and rock into one of June’s must-see live events.
Considered a dark comedy, the story follows a meek plant store attendant Seymour, his co-worker crush Audrey and her sadistic dentist of a boyfriend as they battle the rise of an alien plant with an appetite for humans that threatens the world as we know it.
