REVIEW: All the reasons you can’t miss City Social’s Saturday Brunch

Join the ultimate Saturday soiree at City Social, where every bite is a delight and magic is on the menu!

Picture this: It’s a rainy Saturday afternoon and you’re at City Social, perched high above the stunning Dubai Marina skyline.

The dissipating fog gives way to spectacular views of Ain Dubai, setting the tone for what is to come. Inside, the vibe is effortlessly cool – clean lines, minimalist décor, and upbeat music thanks to the resident DJ. It’s a brunch kind of weekend and the place is buzzing with a relaxed anticipation for delicacies curated by the iconic Jason Atherton.

As you settle in with a welcome drink, it’s impossible to miss peals of excited laughter as a magician makes his way across tables. The fun touch is one of many things that immediately sets the Saturday brunch at City Social a class apart.

But let’s talk food.

Arriving in sharing portions, each dish is a feast for the eyes and the stomach. We begin with the Garlic Sourdough Baguette, easily our favourite plate of the evening. Warm and fragrant, you inadvertently end up ignoring the delicious dips it comes paired with – a 10/10 bite that will pale all other garlic bread forever.

Other appetisers on the menu are just as fun, including the Fried Spiced Chicken served with a tangy Dallas sauce or the umami bomb that is Avocado with Nashi pear, daikon salad and sesame and tofu dressing.

The Aged Beef Tartare adorned with goat’s cheese cream, mizuna, and pickled onion is a symphony of textures and tastes, albeit drizzled with a little more sauce than your typical tartare. Before the rainy skies could take our minds off the meal, we were presented with a trolley laden with the freshest seafood in town.

Enter Poached Black Tiger Prawns and Freshly Shucked Oysters, neatly curated according to our preference and served on a bed of ice with condiments. Pro tip: Pair it with the most adorable tiny bottle of tabasco for the perfect contrast of briny freshness to sharp tang.

The menu at City Social promises modern European cuisine infused with Japanese flavours, and the brunch more than delivers. As is the hallmark of any perfect meal, the attentive staff ensures your glass is never empty, offering up expertly crafted mixed drinks, grape or bubbly to enhance your experience.

As you make your way through the decadently innovative larger plates, the electric ambience doesn’t let up. Laughter fills the air as friends and family catch up over plates of Gochujang ‘Josper’ French Cod, Black Angus Rib Eye and more. We had the pleasure of being in the company of not one, but two birthday brunches and a couple celebrating their golden anniversary.

If the extravagant sparklers, cake and musical efforts taken by the staff are any indication at all, this City Social brunch is certainly the place to be to elevate your next celebration.

And just when you think it can’t get any better, dessert arrives – a decadent display of sweets that’s almost too beautiful to eat. But you dive in anyway, savouring every bite of the Crème Brûlée, Lemon Meringue Pie, and Strawberry Trifle.

The Cheese Trolley at the end is just the perfect bow on the treat of an afternoon, a great excuse to sit back and relish the atmosphere. As the afternoon wears on, you realise City Social is a place where good food meets great company, and every moment is filled with magic (quite literally!). So if you’re looking for a brunch that’s more than just a meal, this is it.

You won’t be disappointed.
