REVIEW: LPM Restaurant & Bar offers top-notch cuisine

LPM Restaurant & Bar stands firm as one of Dubai’s most popular restaurants.

There’s an excitement that swirls around the name LPM. Having opened its doors over 12 years ago, LPM Restaurant & Bar has stood the test of time and stands firm as one of Dubai’s most popular restaurants.

Boasting an exquisite menu of French-inspired dishes, it has been crowned 8th Best Restaurant in the Middle East, named by World ’s 50 Best Restaurants Middle East & Africa, and is also part of the esteemed Michelin Guide.

Upon arrival, we are warmly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant is immaculate but without being stuffy.

Beautifully lit, it is a classic look of crisp white tablecloths, silver cutlery and bold art on the walls.

What strikes us first is the lemon and two tomatoes accompanying the bottles of olive oil on every table.

Echoing the simplicity of French high-end dining, you are encouraged to eat these alongside your crusty baguette, which is served fresh and hot straight from the oven.

Taking in the space, we also notice their impressive bar with its new ten-metre-long pewter countertop, housing many vintage spirits.

Insisting that we try one of their mixed drinks, our knowledgeable waitress Rachel shows us the menu – a fabulous, whimsical book showcasing 12 unique mixed drinks inspired by French artist Jean Cocteau.

All 12 drinks take you on a creative journey through the writer’s life.

From absinthe fountains to glasses spritzed with Chanel No. 5, the experience is multi-sensory and fun!

Try the “Pablo”, inspired by Cocteau’s friendship with Picasso, the mixed drink celebrates their favourite colours, blue and green, by adding delicate drops of a unique herb-infused olive oil turned brilliant blue to your drink.

The Food

The drinks are wow, but the food truly steals the show; a wide choice of tantalising, seasonal dishes using fresh Mediterranean ingredients.

At Rachel’s recommendation, we have the yellow tail carpaccio with guacamole and tangy citrus dressing and the escargot de Bourgogne.

The latter oozes warm garlic butter and is simply divine. The beef fillet is next, along with the grilled Chilean seabass with chilli and lemon confit.

The fish is light and succulent, and the beef is juicy and tender. To finish, it’s the apple tart with vanilla ice cream and cheesecake with berry compote.

The food is elegant, unfussy, and exceptional.

The Atmosphere

LPM is buzzing. As we enjoy our meal, we hear enthusiastic waiters singing Happy Birthday to their celebratory guests in the background.

By 8.30pm, the restaurant is full, and the bar is lively; the who’s who of Dubai rub shoulders with DIFC’s suited and booted, but there are also couples, groups of friends and people of all ages; in short, it’s the perfect mix!

The Lowdown

The dining experience at LPM goes well beyond excellent food. From the passionate staff to the creative, story-telling mixology, spending time here is a treat.

Ideal for date nights, celebrations, or just to enjoy a good time.

Tip: Book early if you want to get a table. As well as the main restaurant, you can soak up the atmosphere on their French riviera-inspired terrace or even opt for a seat at the bar; neither will disappoint.
