Dubai’s early childhood education scene is buzzing!

Enrolments at private early education centres have soared by 16 per cent in the 2023-24 academic year.

According to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), 25 new early childhood centres opened this year, bringing the total to an impressive 274.

These centres are now home to over 27,000 children, including more than 2,500 Emirati kids.

That’s a lot of little learners!

“Providing high-quality early education is essential to support children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development, laying the foundation for lifelong success,” says “Aisha Miran, Director General of the KHDA.

“Parents are becoming increasingly aware of their children’s developmental needs and the importance of early childhood education in meeting those needs.”

Parents in Dubai are spoiled for choice with 16 different curricula offered by early learning centres.

The most popular?

The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum from the UK, available at 215 centres.

Following that are the Montessori curriculum (20 centres) and the US curriculum (eight centres).

Language options are diverse too, with instruction available in English, Arabic, French, Swedish, and more.

Most of the kids (69%) are between two and four years old, and nearly 80% of them attend five days a week.

These bustling centres employ over 1,700 teachers and 2,500 teaching assistants, ensuring quality education and care for the little ones.

For parents looking to find the perfect centre, the KHDA website and mobile app offer a handy directory to search by location, fees, and other criteria.
