School honoured for leadership and support in Emiratisation
GEMS Modern Academy has been awarded the prestigious NAFIS Award for Education, recognizing its outstanding efforts in supporting the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council.
This national initiative, aimed at fostering UAE citizens’ growth through employment opportunities, is a flagship project of the UAE government.
The award highlights the school’s commitment to the national Emiratisation campaign led by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Dino Varkey, Group CEO of GEMS Education, accepted the award, praising the school for its dedication to empowering Emirati youth with essential skills and knowledge.
Nargish Khambatta, Principal/CEO of GEMS Modern Academy, expressed her delight at receiving the award, emphasising the significant contributions of Emirati staff members across various roles.

Fatima Al Shamsi, head of the Emiratisation programme at GEMS and a UAE citizen, reflected on the honour of receiving the NAFIS Award.
She reiterated GEMS Education’s long-standing commitment to nurturing local talent and supporting Emiratisation efforts across the group.

In October 2022, GEMS Education launched an Emiratisation drive to promote the national workforce in its schools and services.
This programme aligns with the UAE Government’s efforts to enhance Emiratisation within the private sector, supporting national competitiveness and workforce development.
