From live shows to literary adventures, this year’s festival is where young minds grow and imaginations soar
The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) is back for its 16th edition at Expo Centre Sharjah, running daily until 4 May, and it’s bursting with interactive shows, cultural fun, and endless creativity.
With the theme “Dive Into Books,” this year’s event brings together the world of reading, performance, science, and imagination in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.
Whether you’re raising a budding reader, an aspiring illustrator, or just want an inspiring day out with the kids, here’s what makes SCRF 2025 unmissable.
A festival that blends fun and learning
With more than 600 workshops and over 150 sessions in a dedicated Comics Corner, the festival turns learning into a hands-on adventure. From cooking demos to interactive science and art activities, children can explore new interests and hidden talents.

There are 122 publishers from 22 countries and appearances by over 200 authors and illustrators, so there’s no shortage of stories to discover—or people to inspire your little ones.
Live shows that captivate young audiences
Prepare for a packed schedule of dazzling performances. Highlights include:
- AirfootWorks – jaw-dropping aerial stunts and artistry
- Junklandia – circus, comedy, and eco-awareness from another planet
- Dancing With a Robot – a human-robot duet of dance and innovation
- Marty Putz Show – hilariously creative comedy direct from Britain’s Got Talent
- Festival Characters – beloved mascots Wamda, Shua’a, Qalam, and Nuqta roam the halls daily
Not to mention the whimsical Mysterious Wonderland, where magical creatures share lessons of kindness and nature through interactive storytelling.
Where kids and books meet creators
Children can meet their favourite writers and illustrators, attend book signings, and get inspired by real-life creative voices. The 30+ panel discussions offer deep dives into children’s publishing, reading culture, and what it takes to bring stories to life.
Parents and educators will appreciate panels addressing challenges and opportunities in the global book industry, especially in the digital age.
A cultural platform with heart
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the festival is a cultural mission to nurture a love of reading and lifelong learning in the next generation.
It’s a place where storytelling, culture, and imagination create meaningful connections.
