Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) has launched Le Jardin Suisse – a green, hands-on learning space where students can explore nature and sustainability
Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) has officially opened Le Jardin Suisse, a new outdoor learning space designed to bring sustainability, curiosity, and creativity to life.
Nestled within the Al Jadaf campus, the lush garden is more than just a pretty space—it’s a hands-on classroom where students explore science, sustainability, and mindfulness.
Rooted in the school’s Swiss heritage and built in collaboration with Al Barari, the garden features everything from a Zen walkway to composting corners, herb beds and outdoor workspaces—all linked to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
Children from Early Years to Primary are already getting involved through gardening clubs and ‘Green Teams’, learning about ecosystems, biodiversity and food production through real-world exploration.
“Our new garden is a space where students can learn, reflect, and develop a deeper connection with the environment,” says Ms Gullrukh Rafiq, SISD’s Student Enrichment lead. “It brings sustainability to life in a tangible way and gives our students an opportunity to understand the natural world through hands-on experiences. We hope it will inspire them to become responsible global citizens who recognise and understand the importance of protecting and nurturing our planet.”
With families helping name the garden and plans for parent volunteering, Le Jardin Suisse is set to become a growing hub for learning, wellbeing, and community.
