Dubai schools collaborate with a sustainability artist to create eco-friendly installations at City Walk and The Beach, JBR
Hey there, eco-warriors!
Merex Investment is turning the spotlight on creativity with a sustainability programme that’s shaking up the norm.
They’ve teamed up with six top Dubai schools, inviting students to transform waste into captivating works of art at their lifestyle destinations, City Walk and The Beach, JBR.
The mission?
Tackling urban waste and marine pollution head-on. Students from Innoventures Education schools are taking the lead, crafting installations from city waste like fabric, plastic, and glass.
Over at The Beach, JBR, it’s all about ocean debris – plastic, paper, and cans – turned into modern geometric sculptures.
Since November 2023, these young minds have been on a journey, learning the ropes of sustainability and getting hands-on with recycled materials.
The result?
Interactive installations that not only look cool but also carry a powerful message about environmental consciousness.

A prominent sustainability artist, Christine Iris Wilson, is at the helm, guiding students through the process.
She’s all about turning discarded materials into meaningful art, and she’s bringing that ethos to the classrooms. The students get to be part of workshops and interactive sessions, gaining insights into recycling and sustainable practices.
Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, is stoked about this collaboration. For her, it’s not just about creating art; it’s about nurturing teamwork, strategic thinking, and contributing to national goals of sustainability. Bertrand Malifarges of Lycée Français International de l’AFLEC echoes the sentiment, emphasising the role students play in positive change.
Launched in November 2023, the initiative isn’t just a one-time deal. It’s a journey that started with collecting materials and is now in full swing with installations and workshops.
Check out the transformation at City Walk and The Beach, JBR, from April 2024.
