Dubai’s MENA Oceans Summit wants to accelerate marine clean-up

Two-day summit to kick off on World Oceans Day

Have you ever thought about the vastness of the oceans, the secrets they hold, and how crucial they are for our planet’s health?

The MENA Oceans Summit, the region’s first-ever dedicated forum focused on accelerating the clean-up of the world’s oceans, will gather renowned scientists, policymakers, industry leaders and environmentalists to work on unlocking the mysteries of the seas and addressing the ocean’s health.

Kicking off on World Oceans Day on 8 June at Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, the summit will engage participants under four key streams – Blue Economy, Blue Governance, Blue Research, and Blue Collective.

With the UAE celebrating 2023 as the Year of Sustainability, the two-day MENA Oceans Summit isn’t just another convention – it’s a veritable plea for the conservation and restoration of our invaluable ocean ecosystems.

There will be panel discussions and intense fireside chats on challenges, developments, and opportunities on day one of the summit.

The second day will focus on educational, awareness, and engagement activities, encouraging the youth and the wider community to be a part of critical dialogues to save the ocean.

Organised by Goumbook, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting sustainable living, the summit serves as a first step in the lead-up to COP28.
