The Canadian comedian will showcasing his great passion at the Electric Pawn Shop.
You might recognise him as the man who tickles your sides on a regular basis but Russell Peters will be swapping jokes for beats as he mans the decks at The H Dubai Hotel this Saturday (14 May).
Taking place at the Electric Pawn Shop, the Canadian funnyman will be demonstrating all his DJ skills with co-owner of the venue, DJ Lobito Brigante, with a classic sound of Old School Music and 80s Hip-Hop.
Speaking on the gig, DJ Lobito Brigante who has collaborated with music royalty in the past like Snoop Dogg, Sean Paul, Aloe Blacc and Fatboy Slim said; “It’s funny how this has come together. Peters is extremely well-connected with highly esteemed DJs who told him to reach out to me when he comes to Abu Dhabi. And sure enough he did and invited me on the yacht he was on that day.
“We instantly connected on a musical level and I mentioned that I’m in the process of opening a bar restaurant with my partner, Lin, asked if he wanted to spin some records, and he said ‘sure, why not.’ So here we are.”
Peters is no stranger to the world of music having produced an Emmy Award-winning music documentary series Hip-Hop Evolution in 2016 and is one of the first comedians to tour the world with a DJ.
His evening on the decks coincides with his performances at the Dubai Comedy Festival.
Doors open at 6pm at the venue where you can indulge in the creative Asian themed hospitality while admiring eccentric décor such as fragmented concrete island bars, a neon-lit stainless steel Asian pavilion hanging by a giant indoor construction crane, a massive collection of curated rare original vinyl records, a glass brick centre stage DJ booth, an indoor amphitheatre and street photography showcasing iconic New York Chinatown scenes.
There are no tickets to the event and places are based on first come, first served basis.
