Salon du Chocolate Dubai: Major chocolate show is coming to Dubai this week

Up to 50 exhibitors and 30 pastry chefs will be present at the event.

Chocolate connoisseurs’ dreams will come true in Dubai this week as the Salon du Chocolat Dubai debuts at Le Gourmet in Galeries Lafayette in Dubai Mall.

Running 12 to 14 May, the great and good of the chocolate and pastry world will come together for three days of the sweetest events including the chance to explore stands, sample and savour chocolate from around the globe, attend special workshops and masterclasses with world-renowned chocolatiers, chocolate tasters and pastry chefs.

You will be able to also enjoy a Chocolate Fashion show and kids will be able to get creative with chocolate at the Salon du Chocolat Junior as well as take part in three chocolate competitions for amateur chefs.

Up to 50 exhibitors and 30 pastry chefs will be present in Dubai which is the second city in the Middle East to host the event after it launched in Beirut in 2014.

Speaking on the announcement, Joumana Damous-Salame, managing director of Hospitality Services, said; “Le Gourmet at Galeries Lafayette is known for its superior quality and has a French signature, which is symbolic given the fact that Salon du Chocolat was founded in Paris almost 30 years ago.

“Dubai Mall is also the most beautiful mall in the region and the second largest mall in the world, so it was by far the most suitable location.”

Established in Paris in 1994, the exhibition has become a reference for chocolate enthusiasts, with events taking place in New York, Tokyo, London, Brussels, Cologne, Lyon, Moscow, Shanghai, Marseille, Zurich, Cannes, Bordeaux, Monaco, Milano, Hong Kong, Beirut and many other cities.

Maha El Khoury, projects and sales director at Hospitality Services, said the importance of festivals, particularly in the UAE and why selecting Dubai as the second city in the Middle East to host the famous salon was a natural choice.

She said; “The market for chocolate and pastry in the UAE is huge, Dubai is considered a benchmark for the hospitality and foodservice industries. There are some immensely talented chefs working in the emirate, so we are really looking forward to their involvement.
