Given the unprecedented demand, The Lion King’s Middle East debut will now see five extra shows!

The curtains for the award-winning musical will rise on 16 November, all the way till 10 December. Five extra shows have been added to the award-winning musical’s historic run in Abu Dhabi, scheduled to take place at 8pm on 22, 23, and 30 November, followed by 6 and 7 December.
A talented cast of international performers are set to reprise the roles they played on Broadway, the West End and Las Vegas at Etihad Arena in the capital.
Michael Cassel, CEO of Michael Cassel Group, the theatrical producer leading The Lion King said, “It has been wonderful to see UAE audiences embrace THE LION KING with such enthusiasm, allowing us to extend the season further. To be bringing Julie Taymor’s extraordinary vision, exactly as audiences have enjoyed it on Broadway and around the world, to Abu Dhabi for the first time is truly an honour.”

The Lion King team has also unveiled the talented cast headed to the UAE. Fans will get to see Futhi Mhlongo play his 15-year-long role of Rafiki, Dashaun Young as Simba, and Amanda Kunene as Nala.
For the legendary role of Mufasa, we have Mthokozisi Emkay Khanyile, and Antony Lawrence essaying the role of iconic villain Scar. Australian-born actor André Jewson is set to return as Zazu, and Nick Mercer and Pierre van Heerden are set to play lovable characters Timon and Pumba respectively.
In addition to the lead roles, the talented ensemble is made up of a diverse mix of nationalities and experience, with both emerging and established performers taking to the stage. Joining THE LION KING ensemble is: José Ahued, Dayan Kingsley Beukes, Mpho Bodibe, Reoagile Choabi, Gavin Hart, Yu-Ting Hsueh, Phumelele Jili, Kudzai Christine Kapswarah, Lungile Khambule (Sarabi), Dalila Leal, Milang Lie Meeuw Lew, Sfiso Matlala, Sipho Mlombile, Annakanako Mohri, Benton Morris, Neo Motaung, Noluyanda Mqulwana, Zodwa Mrasi, Lwazi Mzimase, Msizi Njapha, Thabani Ntuli, Aphiwe Nyezi, Peace Nzirawa, Nonofo Olekeng, Angeles Reyes, Mahlatse Sachane, Phumelele Sikhakhane, Romy Jo Swales, Vuyelwa Tshona, Tlholo Tsotetsi, Benn Welford, Daniel Zazueta, Sandile Zondi, and Bonga Zulu.
