UAE National Youth Orchestra performs live at Dubai Opera

The amazing UAE National Youth Orchestra will provide a musical extravaganza at Dubai Opera on 2 March

Celebrate Spring in the best way possible with the UAE National Youth Orchestra who is set to enchant audiences at Dubai Opera on 2 March.

This eagerly anticipated event, part of the Global Notes concert series promises a captivating evening filled with talent and a diverse musical repertoire.

Held in the intimate setting of The Studio at Dubai Opera, Chapter Six of the Global Notes series features the NYO, showcasing its accomplished musicians and recent winners of the National Youth Orchestra Solo Concerto Competition 2024.

The programme boasts a delightful mix of classical favorites and modern hits, ensuring an inclusive experience for all attendees.

The concert will open with Vivaldi’s timeless Four Seasons, setting the stage for a musical journey that includes Gershwin’s soulful Summertime, Handel’s majestic Water Music, and a unique rendition of Queen’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Highlighting the NYO’s exceptional talent are the soloists, winners of the Solo Concerto Competition. First Prize goes to violinist Alexandra Derkaloustian, who will grace the audience with Sarasate’s Gypsy Airs.

Second Prize winner Renée Youssef will enchant with Massenet’s ‘Méditation from while third Prize winner Oscar Lucero Beschi will showcase his skills in Kreisler’s Praeludium and Allegro. The Most Promising Talent, Sian Willgoss, will captivate with the Allegro from Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons.

Under the leadership of UAE-based Conductor and Composer Mr. Jonathan Barrett and the guidance of Artistic Director Amira Fouad, the NYO has become a beacon of musical excellence.

The orchestra, founded in 2018, has grown exponentially, now boasting over 140 members from over 25 countries, aged 5-18, all representing the local community in the UAE. The NYO’s commitment to values such as generosity, endeavor, inclusivity, tolerance, and compassion has solidified its position as the largest and most prestigious youth orchestra in the region.

Global Notes, curated by Artistic Director Amira Fouad of Encore, has become synonymous with musical diversity, presenting young talents from around the world.
