Stroll back to the ‘90s in Abu Dhabi with these two walking tours

Discover the areas that defined the ‘90s in the capital.

For those who adored the Zemanna exhibition at Manarat Al Saadiyat we have some great news.

The arts centre is hosting not one, but two walking tours that will allow you to go back to a simpler time this weekend in Abu Dhabi.

On 19 March, take the Invisible Spaces: Writing Tour to rediscover and revive some long-gone places in Abu Dhabi city through writing before Sunday sees the Abu Dhabi Walking Tour: Downtown 90s lead by Sultan Al Ramahi  travel around downtown Abu Dhabi to revisit blocks and stops that defined our 90s.

The walking tours supplement the exhibit that is running until 13 June 2022 at Manarat Al Saadiyat which showcases the beginning of major change in the country’s population when it was characterised by the presence of street vendors and colourful neon-lit dukkan signs.

Curated by Munira Al Sayegh with Dirwaza Curatorial Lab, the exhibit will showcase nine interactive installations from Afra Al Dhaheri; Aisha Al Ahmadi; Alaa Edris; Fadel Al Mheiri; Ghada Al Sayegh and Maytha Al Shamsi; Jumairy; Mays Albaik; Rawdha Al Ketbi; and Sree.
