Let the movies roll: UAE cinemas to return to full capacity

Each emirate can decide whether our or not to implement the new measure.

Book your movie ticket and help yourself to big bag of popcorn because cinemas will be back to full capacity from tomorrow (15 February).

The relaxed measures come after The Media Regulatory Office of the Ministry of Culture and Youth announced that movie houses can operate at full capacity should the emirate approve.

Speaking to local media sources, Executive Director of the Media Regulatory Office, Dr. Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi said; “The decision to raise capacity in cinemas follows the success of the efforts of the UAE government agencies in combating the spread of COVID-19.”

He also stressed the need to fully adhere to preventative measures such as mask wearing.

Cinemas are one of the first recreational facilities to see their capacities return to 100 per cent after it was announced last week by The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) that there would be a gradual lifting COVID-19 restrictions on various events and activities in the country following a drop in infection rates.

In Abu Dhabi, you will need to present a green pass on your Al Hosn app in order to gain entry to the cinema.
