Leave the noise of the city and head to this kid-friendly location on the horizon of the main island. With free access to the beach, a superb range of burger vans and chic restaurants from which to eat, a heritage trail to explore and even a skateboard park, Circuit X, you won’t be hearing any complaints about being bored this beach in Abu Dhabi.

Al Bateen Beach

 

Al Bateen Beach Abu Dhabi

This sand location is popular among expats and locals alike (and even a favourite of our editor, Derek) with views that look over the aforementioned Al Hudayriyat Island, fully equipped shower and changing facilities, relaxed atmosphere and free entry. The beach is also a holder of the prestigious Blue Flag sustainability award by the Emirates Wildlife Authority which means you are guaranteed a pleasant experience inside and outside of the water.

Corniche

 

Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach

You don’t have to be from Abu Dhabi to know of this beach. Located along the iconic Corniche, this beach stretches over 2km being divided into three sections. Gate 2 and 3 are exclusively for families and are packed with kid-friendly things to do like watersports and volleyball as well as views of the Abu Dhabi skyline and Al Marina.
