What is an IB Education?
The British International School Abu Dhabi offers the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13.
The IB Diploma Programme was established in 1968 to provide a challenging and comprehensive education that would enable students to understand and manage the complexities of our world and provide them with the skills and attitudes for taking responsible action for the future. Such an education was rooted in the belief that people who are equipped to make a better and more peaceful world require an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries.
In our highly interconnected and rapidly changing world, the IBDP aims to develop international mindedness in a global context. An IB education aims to develop the awareness, perspectives and commitment necessary for global engagement and action. The IB aspires to empower students, parents, teachers and school leaders to be active learners who are committed to action within a global context.
The aim of the IBDP is to develop internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet help to create a better and more peaceful world.

The information session is for both current BIS Abu Dhabi families and for students looking to join us for the two year IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. The purpose of the session is to explain the advantages of the IB Diploma Programme at BIS Abu Dhabi and how we prepare our students for life at University and beyond. Key members of staff as well as students currently studying the programme will be available to answer questions about the course and share their experiences.
