Hay Festival Abu Dhabi

The world-famous Hay Festival will return to the Arab world on 25–28 February 2020 with a brand new edition in Abu Dhabi

Hay Festival Abu Dhabi will bring writers and readers together at the city’s cultural centre, Manarat al Saadiyat, for four days of conversation and debate, story-telling and workshops, music, film, comedy and performance. Events will be in Arabic and English, Hindi, Malayalam, French and Filipino and free to anyone under 25 and/or in full time education.

The festival’s extensive education programme includes inviting 50+ government and low fee paying schools to the Manarat al Saadiyat for events and outreach to universities including NYUAD, Sorbonne and Zayed University. The participants so far include Syrian poet Adunis; Winner of the Man Booker International Prize 2019, Jokha Alharthi; Nobel Laureates Shirin Ebadi, Ahmed Galai and Wole Soyinka; winner of the Arabic Prize for Fiction 2019, Hoda Bharakat; and music from Marcel Khalife, Nitin Sawnhey and Seckou Keita.
