The 7th anniversary of the Kilomarathon will take place this year on Friday night, 1st November 2019, at The Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa. This year’s Kilomarathon is being organized in collaboration with Gulf Multi Sport, Abu Dhabi Golf Club, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Al Jalila Foundation and sponsored by Mediclinic
About the event
The Kilomarathon is an annual charity evening run unlike any other. It held under the lights of one of the world’s most iconic golf courses – The Abu Dhabi Golf Club and is a looped course that cuts through the Abu Dhabi Golf Course grass fairways, cart paths, sand mounds and gravel roads.
It is open to young and old, amateur and professional, and there are several distances to choose from. Runners can choose from 3 categories – the full Kilomarathon (26.2km) which is 6 laps around the course, the Half Kilo (13.1km) which is 3 laps or 1 lap (4.4km).
Registration will open at 5:30pm, and races begin at 7:30pm, with festivities planned. Visitors and runners will enjoy a range of food and beverage stalls along with Heavenly Spa by Westin therapists who will be on hand for runners and visitors to enjoy a relaxing mini treatment experience.
Halloween Kids Run
This year, in celebration of Halloween, a special Halloween Children’s run will take place, inviting kids’ ages 4 years old to 12 years old to wear their best costumes and run the Children’s Lap, which is a 1km run around the driving range. Kids with the most creative costume can get a chance to win amazing prizes.
Road To Awareness & Al Jalila Foundation
The Westin Kilomarathon supports the 12th edition of Road to Awareness – Marriott International’s annual associate fundraising campaign that has been making a valuable difference to the lives of children for over a decade across the Middle East & Africa. Every year, through Road to Awareness, associates across the Middle East and Africa organize fundraising events to support the vital work charities and organizations, such as medical, rehabilitative, educational, and therapeutic, to improve the lives of children.

All proceeds from The Westin Kilomarathon directly benefit the Al Jalila Foundation’s paediatric programme called Farah, which means ‘joy’ in Arabic. Farah provides medical care for children in the UAE, who suffer from heart disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases. Farah also invests in local medical research of childhood illnesses to discover better treatment options.
