A Bedouin tent replete with life-sized camel statues; a dedicated exhibit to the UAE’s military past and peace-keeping operations overseas; the smack of the squash ball and excited squeak of trainers; Erth Abu Dhabi combines the wonderful cultural heritage of the UAE with the pursuits and pleasures of a modern five-star hotel.
Wandering slowly through the halls of the hotel, guests will soon find themselves enchanted by the alluring smell of barbecue foods emanating from Al Rimal.
Tucked underneath the wing of the falcon-shaped hotel, Team Yalla had the joy of sampling the restaurant’s Wednesday evening, Lailat Al Hatab BBQ Night.
Entering the recently revamped restaurant, guests’ eyes will be immediately drawn to the vast buffet section. Cooking stations galore, the spread is enormous and varied.
Diners have the choice of dining in the spacious and sleek interior or outside on a beautiful terrace overlooking a picturesque Al Fayy Garden with views stretching out towards the channel.
Begin feasting with a selection of salads, global cheeses and imaginative sushi dishes along with little shots of gazpacho and artistic crafted foie gras; make sure to take a fully charged phone as you will be taking plenty of Insta-tastic food pics.
Once appetisers have been seen off, it is time to take on the stars of the evening; fine cuts of meat and fresh catch from the sea, exquisitely cooked to your preference on the grill.
Tuck into beef medallions, chicken shish tawouk and lamb kofta among a huge range of grilled meats. For those looking to sample local cuisine, a dedicated station will serve up the likes of chicken machboos.
But if you are a barbecue traditionalist, there are thick burgers and juicy chicken sausages to sate your appetite.
And of course, if you are of a sweet persuasion, there are delicious treats like luqaimat, kunafa, umm ali along with a traditional English favourite, sticky toffee pudding with a wonderful regional twist for that sugary kick to end the night.
Truly a mid-week treat to enjoy on a Wednesday evening in Abu Dhabi from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
