Team Yalla head to Hamdan Street to get stuck into some tasty new dishes… here are our thoughts.
There’s no doubt about it, Hamdan Street is one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares with an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and hotels.
And nestled in the heart of it all is Café 302, located on the ground floor of Al Maha Arjaan by Rotana hotel.
Step inside Café 302 and instantly leave the hustle and bustle of this busy street behind. The urban-style décor is welcoming; there’s even a selection of books to help you get even more comfortable.
For those who love the noise of the city and would rather have a slice of the city while tucking into their fare, head to the café’s pavement terrace, which is great for people watching.
But we decide to stay indoors, which, with the floor-to-ceiling plate glass windows, is also an ideal spot for people watching
The café is a favoured spot for its coffees and unlimited breakfast, but this time round, we popped in to taste the much raved about vegan menu.
We pick the Winter Beetroot salad, the Beet and White Bean Burger and the Sweet Potato Quesadillas.
The salad fresh, as you’d expect and burger juicy, the quesadilla filling is full of flavour with a wonderful blend of spices that made every bite pop.
We didn’t plan on a heavy meal and gladly found out that three dishes between my two kids and I left us with exactly the right portions.
With all that healthy and responsible eating, we deserved a treat and went with the Chocolate Torte, which, when cut open, oozed with a rich chocolate sauce.
Are we born again vegans? Probably not, but we would definitely be back to try out their other vegan dishes.
The plant-based additions to the menu are no doubt must-haves on our, or anybody’s eatinerary and we hope they continue to stay on well after Veganuary has ended.
