Good things come in pairs

The Duo Brunch at Cho Gao Marina Walk and Chamas Churrascaria.

Team Yalla has been out and about again, treading Abu Dhabi’s gastronomic path and yesterday it had the pleasure to indulge in a fine ‘duo’ Saturday brunch offering split between two great Abu Dhabi restaurants.

They say good things come in pairs and while that might not always ring true and possibly be a little trite, it’s certainly the case with the Saturday brunch at Cho Gao and Chamas Churrasscaria & Bar at the InterContinental Abu Dhabi.

The two award-winning dining destinations have teamed up to offer the best of pan-Asian cuisine and Brazilian churrascaria in a fun setting overlooking the hotel’s marina waterfront.

The concept is simple – feast on the offering of two culinary worlds.

Chamas presents a meat journey showcasing a selection of sumptuous cuts reared on Pampas’ grasslands of South America, Argentina, Australia, USA, Canada and Europe which are barbecued “churrasco” style. The endless meat (you can order as much as you wish) is flamboyantly presented by “espeto corrido” – on skewers – and carved at your table lending great theatre and fun to the occasion.

Cuts of beef, lamb and chicken are succulent, smokey and juicy, all grilled to your choosing and it’s difficult not to over-indulge such is the sumptuousness of the cuisine on the plate.

Chamas is a carnivores’ venue, and for discerning carnivores at that. For lovers of Asian cuisine, their choice of establishment is just next door at Cho Gao which offers fresh sushi and sashimi, dumplings, fragrant Vietnamese salads, piquant Thai curries and Indian curries – the Massaman beef curry is a must-try and a favourite, and for good reason.

You can choose which of the two restaurants you wish to enjoy the brunch in although those with a sweet tooth should take note that the wonderful desserts are served in Cho Gao.

So, settle into Cho Goa’s East Asian décor with evocative hanging lanterns which cast alluring geometric-patterned shadows across the floor or sit back in sumptuous leather chairs at the luxurious Latin eatery. Even better, now the weather is so wonderful, sit on one of their outside terraces and soak up the the views of the hotel’s marina and Abu Dhabi’s skyline as you enjoy the limitless beverages on offer.

Team Yalla sat in Cho Gao and our charming and attentive waiter was a font of knowledge not only on ‘his’ restaurant but on Chamas too.

The atmosphere of this brunch is laid back and fun and the live South American music in both restaurants only added to the relaxed ambience.

Throw in charming waiters and a huge selection of food and beverages and this makes for a double-fun afternoon.
