Al Muntaha came out on top at the third Gault&Millau UAE awards

You cannot be a gourmand in the UAE without referring to the Holy Grail that is the Gault&Millau guide.

The fine dining critique brand unveiled the full list of UAE’s best restaurants, sommeliers and chef in a grand gala at Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. award-winning restaurants need to be on your radar.

The third Gault&Millau UAE gala welcomed over 200 of the country’s very best chefs, sommeliers, restaurant managers and restaurateurs at the iconic hotel’s Al Falak ballroom.

This year, a total of 12 awards were handed including Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year, which is given to the venue that has achieved the highest score of the year.

The host hotel’s Al Muntaha came out on top, winning Homegrown restaurant of the Year as well as Chef of the Year for Saverio Sbaragli. Check out the full list of accolades below –

  • Pastry Chef Of The Year – Christophe Devoille, Atlantis The Royal
  • Sommelier Of The Year – Samuel Lacroix, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah
  • Restaurant Manager Of The Year – Jonathan White, Dinner By Heston Blumenthal
  • Future Great Of The Year – Spencer Metzger, Row On 45
  • Chef Of The Year – Saverio Sbaragli, Al Muntaha

During the exclusive event, guests were also served a specially curated six-course tasting menu alongside a grape pairing. What follows is the 2024 Gala shortlists for People and Venues, revealing the winners from each of the 12 award categories.

That aside, restaurants were also awarded the prestigious toque status. With a score of more than 13 out of 20, restaurants were rewarded with either one, two, three or four toques.

Ossiano, helmed by Grégoire Berger and Trèsind Studio, helmed by Himanshu Siani were graced with the honour of four toques. Restaurants awarded three toques include Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, L’Atelier Robuchon, Ristorante L’Olivo, Row on 45 and STAY by Yannick Alléno.

Nine restaurants were awarded two toques, including City Social, Moonrise, Takahisa and The Artisan Il Ristorante.

Forty-three restaurants were awarded one toque including, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant Dubai, Avatara, BB Social Dining, Gohan, Hakkasan, LPM Restaurant & Bar Dubai, Mayabay, Mimi Kakushi, Reif Japanese Kushiyaki, Trèsind, Twiggy by La Cantine and Zuma Dubai to name a few.

Stellar newcomers who made the list include dreamy Eugène Eugène, the very cool DIFC haunt Uchi and degustation experience by chef Reif Othman, TERO.
