Contemporary Japanese cuisine never looked as good as at Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori, Galleria Mall
On a scorching summer afternoon, when even the thought of stepping outside felt like a challenge, the allure of contemporary Japanese dishes with Michelin-backed credentials was the only thing that could get me moving. Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori, tucked away in the bustling Galleria Mall proved worth it and then some!
Arriving at the restaurant, I was greeted by the welcoming hosts with quintessential Japanese hospitality, who instantly made me feel at home. The atmosphere was inviting yet lively, with the constant hum of the mall providing a pleasant backdrop for people-watching as diners flowed in.
The open kitchen, a centrepiece of the space, added to the theatre of the experience, offering a front-row view of the chefs at work under the skilled leadership of Michelin-starred Chef Akmal Anuar and Chef Susu Chuen.
We started with the snapper ceviche, a dish that was as refreshing as it was vibrant, its zesty flavours cutting through the heat outside. The caviar bowl followed, a luxurious combination of textures that felt like an indulgence but in the most sophisticated way. Each bite was a reminder of why Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori has earned and maintained its place on the Michelin Guide.

The lobster roll was a standout—tempura-fried lobster paired with tamago and aji amarillo, topped with flying fish roe. The dish hit all the right notes, blending richness with a light crunch that kept me coming back for more.
Skewers here are an absolute must. The chicken adobo, with its tangy soy and vinegar glaze, was succulent and perfectly cooked, a novel take on the classic flavours of adobo. But the wagyu tsukune skewers stole the show, with their Japanese curry sesame glaze offering an intense, deep flavour that lingered long after the last bite.
And then there was the dessert—a matcha cheesecake that defied all expectations. The matcha cream cheese mousse, paired with almond parmesan and a crispy tuille stuffed with a velvety filling, created a dessert experience that was both playful and satisfying, unlike any cheesecake I’ve ever had.
Between the exceptional service, buzzing atmosphere, and beautifully curated dishes, it’s no surprise this gem has caught the Michelin Guide’s attention. Definitely worth a visit!
