Waldorf Astoria DIFC launches a show-stopping Opera Afternoon Tea with live performances and luxury treats

Afternoon tea just hit a high note — literally.

Starting Saturday 17 May, the iconic Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria DIFC unveils a stunning new experience: the Meet Me at the Clock – Opera Edition.

This isn’t your average tea time.

Every Saturday from 3pm to 6pm, guests are invited to indulge in the elegant ritual of afternoon tea — but with a soaring, operatic twist.

World-class soprano Ana Kovacevic will serenade diners with beloved arias such as Nessun Dorma and Time to Say Goodbye, all while accompanied by a live pianist beneath the grand, gilded clock.

Live Opera. Luxe bites. A DIFC first

Set in the heart of Dubai’s stylish DIFC district, Peacock Alley’s new Opera Edition transforms a timeless afternoon tradition into a sensory experience — one where music, flavour, and ambiance come together in perfect harmony.

Kovacevic, whose powerful vocals have echoed across the world’s most prestigious stages (yes, including the Beijing Olympics and the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony), brings global calibre to your tea table. It’s the kind of show you usually dress up for — now paired with truffle-laced bites and signature pastries.

Here’s what’s on the menu

Peacock Alley Difc Afternoon Tea

The savoury selection is orchestrated by Executive Chef Gurkan Gozyilmaz, and it’s anything but ordinary:

  • Wild-caught crab and caviar amuse-bouche
  • Black truffle pommes mousseline
  • Smoked salmon roulade wrapped in hand-rolled potato
  • Foie gras puffs with parmesan sable and beetroot pearls

Classic finger sandwiches also make an appearance, including tuna on brioche and coronation chicken on whole grain. Each is delicate, delightful, and designed to complement the star of the show: the tea.

Expect a curated collection of green, white, black, and herbal teas, plus a signature Chamomile Sour Tea welcome drink (think chamomile, vanilla, and a hint of lemon zing).

Encore-worthy desserts

Exclusive to the Opera Edition: signature opera cakes, specially crafted for the event — sweet tributes to the elegance and drama of the music itself.

Whether you’re an opera aficionado, a lover of luxe experiences, or simply craving a new way to brunch in style, this elevated tea service promises an afternoon that’s dramatic in all the right ways.
